Notice is hereby given the City of Fifty Lakes Planning Commission/Board of Adjustment will convene on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 , at 6p.m. at City Hall located at 40447 Town Hall Road, to conduct the following public hearings:
-Variance Application v-04-24 to expand a pre-existing dwelling within a bluff impact zone (BIZ) with the construction of a non-lakeside 12' x 12' screen porch within the Shoreland Residential (SR) land use district. The subject property is located at 41615 E. Eagle Lake Rd; PIN 22240589. Applicant/property owner: Philip Wanty.
-Conditional Use Application CU-02-24 for the installation of a residential renewable energy system within the Shoreland residential (SR) land use district. The subject property is located at 16246 Eagles Turn; PIN 22230522. Applicant: John Hageman. Property Owner: Thomas and Diana Wright.
-Variance Application v-05-24 for the construction of a dwelling, deck, and screen porch within a bluff impact zone (BIZ) in the Shoreland Residential (SR) land use district. The subject property is located at TBD W Fox Lake Rd; PIN 22210506. Applicant: Northland Construction. Property owner: Chad and Rachel Maschke.
All interested persons are invited to attend these hearings and be heard or send written comments to City Hal at PO Box 125, Fifty Lakes, MN 56448 or via email at pz@fiftylakesmn.com. A staff report is made available at city hall typically one week before the scheduled meeting.

permits, licenses and forms

Please contact city staff before beginning any construction or improvement projects to determine if a permit is required.

Land use permits are required for most exterior projects including (but not limited to) the following:

  • All Forestry Management (logging) Operations
    New and replacement structures including houses, garages, sheds, decks, stairways, etc.
  • Fabric structures (hoop buildings/carports)
  • Additions or exterior modifications to existing structures
  • Most grading/dirt moving activities including all shoreline alterations (e.g. placement of rip-rap or sand placed above the ordinary high water level)
  • New impervious surfaces including driveways, patios, walkways, etc.
  • Temporary placement of recreational vehicles for more than twenty-one (21) consecutive days
  • Signs

Subsurface Sewage Treatment System (SSTS) permits are required for the following:

  • New or replacement systems
  • Upgrade of existing systems (e.g. new septic tank or expansion of a drainfield)
